When the NBA was hit with the dress code, fans freaked out. People thought that NBA athletes would start to look like bad accountants. But the truth is, even if you despise suites, you can wear business clothes in the NBA and still keep your identity. Maybe it’s the name, I’ll admit when I first heard it I paid attention, but there is something about Diesel that just makes me think “tough”. Tough like the street or the game or the hustle. A kind of tough that has kept Diesel rising over so many years. Focusing on jeans originally, Diesel now has over 300 stores in 80 countries from small boutiques to Nordstrom’s and Bloomingdale’s. Joining the ongoing trend in hip hop artists becoming fashion mogules, internationally famous rapper T.I. is launching his clothing line Akoo (“A King of Oneself”) in time for the holiday shopping season. When you put the words “hip-hop” and “fashion” together, it’s hard not to think of Jay-Z. Rapper Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) is involved in a lot of different business endeavors that revolve around his brand and persona.
